To start off an amazing year of intramurals we first have volleyball.
The team captains for the 2025 Volleyball Season are Rylan Belk and Madison Trim for the freshmen, Alexandra Topinka for the sophomores, Clayton Lane and Kylie Silver for the juniors, and Arianna Cruz and Nikki Tran for the seniors.
Throughout this season, the juniors have held the lead so far this season with 1/6th Gingers having 8 wins and no losses and Texas Ballers having 7 wins and 1 loss. These teams matched up earlier today, October 10th, in the championship game.
Normally, sessions of intramurals only involve one game, with the first team to 25 points winning. However, this championship match had 3 games, with the first team to 15 points winning.
Prior to the game, Team captain of 1/6th Gingers Clayton Lane had no worries. “I really like our chances”. He explained how he was feeling before playing the Texas Ballers. “We have beaten them before…25-21 was the score of the last time we played and [we] have improved a lot since then”. Clayton believes their biggest hurdle was practice, since most people just practice during lunch. Clayton says he will definitely be back next year.
Facing off against 1/6th Ginger is the Texas Ballers. “I think we have a very high possibility of winning, we just need to communicate.” said Kylie Silver prior to today’s game. She loves competition and volleyball. Kylie has been playing for about 10 years now which is why the captain role was presented to her. She even said that her favorite part of the season was playing against 1/6th Gingers because she considers them their best competition.
This last semester, the juniors have looked unstoppable, even though their teams are divided. When asked if they had any plans to combine these two stacked rosters, Clayton said “Yes there has definitely been some talk about combining these teams,” and Kylie said, “It depends on how many people are playing next year and the skill level or improvement of everyone.”
