#1. Eating.
The best thing you can do during lunch is eat. School is hard and one of the things that helps you get through it is food. It gives you energy, nutrients, and improves brain function, so you can make it through the day. When asked “How does eating lunch help you for the rest of the day?” Madison Trim said “ It gives me energy and boosts my dopamine.” This shows that the students at MECHS use lunch to help themselves refuel for the rest of the day so they can work their hardest.
#2. Hang Out With Friends
During class we never have time to talk and catch up with our friends. We get too focused on our work and forget that we are also human and need to have interactions once in a while. That’s why during lunch you should be hanging out with friends.” When asked “What makes lunch breaks special to you?” Freshman Mackenzie Gibbons said “I get to see my friends for once cause sometimes I don’t have them in my class. So I finally get to see them and talk to them.” During an interview with Senior Zoey Wise where was asked “ What [are]her top 3 favorite things to do during lunch” her number one thing was “to talk to friends.” Another reason why you should be hanging out with friends during lunch is because it can improve your mental health. It is proven that if you hang out with friends while you eat it will improve your mental health, boost your mood, reduce stress, and help with connections. This is exactly what you need to help get you through a hard school day.
#3. Catch Up On Missing Work
MECHS is often described as having a heavy work load. You may feel stress, anxiety, or even pressure to get all your work done and that’s ok. Whether it’s homework, work you didn’t finish in class, or even extra credit you can finish it during lunch and put all that stress behind you. Many students take lunch as an opportunity to finish work they may not have time to do or to be proactive and start future assignments.. When interviewed, freshman Mike Alvarez was asked “What do you normally do during lunch?” and he said “Sometimes I do missing work.” When asked why he said y “Honestly to help maintain a B or above.” This shows that many students are still getting used to the work load and need lunch to help them catch up.
